Seasoned travelers know travel with a purpose is most rewarding. The Lindens and the Bells have experienced and loved over 50 years working, travelling and living in the Middle Kingdom, the most populous and one of the world’s largest countries. Travelling, painting, or absorbing a new culture is often a life changing experience and can be absolutely exhilarating. We want to share what we have learned and experienced with you.

The new Linden Centre in Yunnan, SW China, provides a base point from which we explore and enjoy experiencing ethnic minority villages with “everyday life activities”. Seven to eleven thousand foot mountains, perhaps the world’s deepest gorge, terraced mountains with rice beds and tea bushes, a smorgasbord of foods, and the wonderful Chinese people who genuinely welcome you, are in the immediate area or within a short journey. Don’t be surprised to be invited for dinner by a villager living in a single room with a cook “stove” in the center of the floor. The Centre is in Xizhou, a village of 2000, where you can walk, ride a horse cart or a tuk tuk to begin the experience.

We provide several trips each year with varying itineraries for painters, photographers, and cultural explorers who will absorb China and its people, at their own pace.
